Making Our Schools Secure and Safe

    Dear Friend,

We have opened the school year in Gush Etzion. Immediately after the holidays we will have a crucial issue. Unfortunately not all of the schools in Gush Etzion are receiving the necessary funding to cover the complete security needs. The Ministry of Education has a given budget which does not cover the guarding of our entire educational campus.

We are in urgent need of funding for the payment of extra guards, for the new school year. This would be the central campus of Gush Etzion, located in the Giva Hatzehuba near Alon Shvut which includes the Regional Council building, the JCC, two elementary schools and one high school.

Today there are 2500 students during school hours on this campus, ranging in ages 6-18. After school hours, in the evenings there are activities at the JCC, where hundreds of children and adults attend extra curricular classes.

There is no end to the amount of security guards that can be placed on the grounds, but to meet the basic needs, the government funding does not cover total expenses. A generous gift that we received for this has lasted two years, and has now ended.

The price per month, including July and August which are busy with camp season is 7,800nis ($2,000) per month. This would be a total of $24,000 for the year.

On the 40th anniversary of Gush Etzion, 1967- 2007 please help us to continue this project for the security and safety of our children, and the future of Gush Etzion.

    Sincerely,

    Shani Abrams Simkovitz
