Regional Award for Excellence in Education

Every year the Minister of Education allocates an award to various educational frameworks in Israel. The Regional Council of Gush Etzion has been the recipient of this award. This award is presented in six different areas through out the country. It is granted to the regions that invested resources not only to maintain their educational frameworks but to further develop the educational content. Thus, the students are brought into the world of modern technology, cultivating a value system dedicated to the country and its history, while creating a new generation which is the future of Israel.

Each region was reviewed by a committee that researched the capabilities and accomplishments of the educational facilities. Gush Etzion, together with five other councils, received the award given by Professor Yuli Tamir, the Minister of Education at a prestigious ceremony in Jerusalem.

"The educational system in Israel today is facing new challenges all the time. The fact that the Mayors of the Regional Councils view education as their top priority and are willing to invest their resources and personal involvement is the reason why I am honored today to present these awards. May they continue to contribute their efforts for generations to come. " (Professor Yuli Tamir, Minister of Education)

The Award  in Gush Etzion was given for:

·       Outstanding personal involvement of the Mayor in the areas of education, culture and sports

·       Support of the Gush Etzion Education Department to the various schools in Gush Etzion, in organizing and implementing the curriculum and supervising the efforts.

·       Encouragement of parental involvement, through the PTA, to motivate and initiate community volunteerism.
