Hatzalah, in Gush Eztion Israel

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is a completely volunteer operation that assists in responding to medical emergencies throughout Gush Etzion. The primary role of the volunteers - trained and certified as EMTs, Paramedics and MDs - is to provide an immediate response within 2-4 minutes from the onset of an incident: establishing a life-saving bridge of medical care; transmitting vital information to control centers and once the local ambulance service arrives, working alongside its crew to enable a swift transfer to hospital.

In Gush Etzion there are 5 ambulances and 2 intensive care ambulances. This is a service provided for all the communities. Since the cost of maintaining an ambulance is high not every community has an ambulance. Nevertheless, we must provide an immediate response for all our residents and the region. We have decided to provide a new service which will cut costs and provide immediate medical care until the ambulance arrives.

Research has shown, time and again, if a severely ill or injured person does not receive adequate treatment within the first 5 minutes after an event, he or she has a far poorer chance of fully recovering. Furthermore, the quality of treatment administered in those first precious moments plays a pivotal role in the degree of recuperation of those who do make it to the emergency room.

Success lies in the widespread geographic distribution of our first-responders. The volunteers are ordinary residents, coming from all of our communities, living, working and studying in virtually every community in Gush Etzion.

First-Responder Volunteers in Gush Etzion are willingly on call 24/7 contributing time, energy and deep motivation to help people in their community in times of distress.

The use of Ambucycles for first response has proven to be a critical link in the emergency chain of survival, allowing rescue personnel immediate access to the scene or home of a patient.

Lightweight motorcycles get paramedics to the scene fast, bypassing debris and fires, weaving through traffic and travelling on unpaved roads reaching the scene in a fraction of the time it would take a standard vehicle. Every minute saved can mean the difference between life and death.

Gush Etzion needs 5 of these cycles.

Dedication signs may be placed on the cycles.

Price of cycle with equipment: $10,000
