Emergency Volunteer Teams in Gush Etzion

The Gush Etzion Security Department, have validated concerns that we must always be on guard and outfitted with the most updated security and medical equipment. Preparing for these situations, our equipment must be replenished and upgraded and the voluntary emergency teams in each community must be all set and ready to respond. The purpose of these teams is to react accordingly at the time of a terrorist action. In addition, they are trained to provide immediate emotional ,psychological and medical intervention support that is vital for the well-being of our residents.

In each of the 15 communities in Gush Etzion there is a volunteer emergency team with 14-16 members.

Costs:

Project coordinator has a part time position (1/4). The job entails recruiting volunteers, maintaining and refreshing the teams, and handling training logistics 2,500 NIS per month.

Training includes training teams, providing them with skills to cope with trauma, and learning how to notify families, inform the public, run and oversee a community during an emergency, etc... The overall cost is 75,000 NIS

In addition, there is an annual cost of 40,000 NIS in order to maintain the teams, by offering them rejuvenating and energizing activities, to guarantee their efficiency and effectiveness despite the depressing situations that they encounter.

Previously, the Regional Volunteer Emergency Team included representatives of each community, but we must expand this to include the educational institutions - 40 pre-schools and 9 schools (elementary and high school).

Youth and New Immigrants

In light of the involvement of youth both as victims and community activists, we must consider, mainly from a therapeutic perspective, how youngsters as well as new immigrants who have never been exposed to this kind of situation are affected.

Additional costs, beyond what has already been mentioned.

Establishing volunteer emergency teams within the education system: Overall regional costs: 15,000 NIS.

These youth will be incorporated into the communities by the continuing education program that will be implemented at a community level.
