Wishing all of our friends a joyous Jerusalem Day and return to Gush Etzion
Jerusalem Day is an Israeli national holiday commemorating the reunification of Jerusalem and Gush Etzion after the victory of the Six Day War in 1967.

The day is marked by state ceremonies, memorial services for soldiers who died in the battle for Jerusalem, parades through downtown Jerusalem, reciting special prayers, lectures on Jerusalem-related topics, singing and dancing, and special television programming. Schoolchildren throughout the country learn about the significance of Jerusalem, and schools hold festive assemblies. The day is also marked in Jewish schools around the world.
Gush Etzion will be commemorating this special day with communal events.
A salute to the soldiers who guard us, the volunteers of the warm corner, tours of the region with the Kfar Etzion Field school, special prayer services in our communities and a bicycle race to Jerusalem.
The Pina Chama (literally, The Warm Corner) was established 9 years ago following the tragic murder of two Gush Etzion residents Dr Shmuel Gillis and Tzachi Sasson. Both men were officers in the army and both had cared on a personal level for their soldiers. Their widows decided immediately that this was the most appropriate way to commemorate their husbands because the Pina Chama is all about giving and thanking the soldiers and policeman who look after us.
