This coming Wednesday,70 woman from all over Israel will be participating in Swim-a-thon across the Kinneret, in support of the Sadnat Shiluv program.
What is Sadnat Shiluv? The Sadna is a project which encourages extremely challenged and special needs children from kindergarten age till young adulthood integrate into community life. It's guiding principle is that a person is not defined by his needs but rather by his ability to contribute. This approach allows these challenged children to gain self-confidence and independence.
The Sadna is located in Kibbutz Rosh Tzurim and is run by a devoted staff who receive unique and professional training in various fields in-order to teach various vocations, and give special workshops. In a addition, there is a dormitory on campus, enabling the children to experience communal inclusion into the social framework, religious life, sense of belonging and employment.
Though this project is supported by the Ministry of Education the needs are great. The Sadna makes the whole difference in the lives of these children.
The Sim-a- thon is not a race. There will be two routes at the Kinnert: 3.5k- starting at Haon Beach and 1.5k starting at Maagan Beach. Training is essential for either route, but you are the best judge of your abilities. In order to have optimal swimming conditions, swimmers will start the route at 6 am.
