Herodion - The Film
The filming for the main presentation that will be shown at the Herodion National Park has been completed. Until his tragic and recent death, Prof. Ehud Netzer participated in the preparation of the script and reconstructed the actual funeral march for the director. .jpg)
The film is another step in the process of upgrading the site, which began two years ago upon receipt of funding from Shaul Goldstein, mayor of Gush Etzion. The cost of the film production is approximately 700,000 NIS. In addition, at the foot of the mountain, a new entrance lobby which was designed to show the film has been built. The plot focuses on the preparations for King Herod’s funeral.
Curiously, one of the actors who came for an audition was Jonathan, an engaging young man. Only after being chosen did his last name, Porat, become known. He is the brother of Roy Porat – the current director of the late Prof. Netzer’s excavations at the Herodion.
Shaul Goldstein said, "The film will allow visitors to view information about the history of King Herod. We are making every effort to make the visitors’ experience more enriching and convey comprehensive information in an interesting and realistic manner. I consider the development of the site to have national significance and I will continue to invest resources in recruiting additional budgets.”

Hence, officials have announced that the Prime Minister's Office has decided to recognize the Herodion National Park as a Heritage Site. Accordingly, in the framework of the broad national project, the site will be provided with additional funding. It is estimated that in the coming two years 20 million NIS will be invested in this site.
