The Dedication of Rotem's Playground In life there are many challenges. A year and half ago after a heroic and long battle to cancer Rotem Jacobs, a special little girl passed away. Rotem would have been 8 years old today and in the third grade. Her family and friends and with the help of the Gush Etzion Foundation, decided that the answer to this loss of life at such a young age would be to create something special in her memory that would benefit other children, that would be full of life and bring them happiness.
Today a playground was dedicated in her name at the Alon Shvut lower division school. A close friend of the family, an artist donated her talent and work, a mosaic wall entering the park. The park is in the entrance to the school yard that stood empty till today.
Now when you walk into the school yard you see happy children playing with laughter. Many people spoke at the ceremony. Rotem's friends spoke of her challenges and high spirits, of her good nature and love for her family during the most difficult of times. She loved school, her friends and learning. The Rabbi of the school said in a place where there are children there is life.
Rotem is survived by her mother and father and 4 other siblings. May her memory be blessed.
